ABOUT
In 2005, the universe decided we could no longer exist without being friends. That’s at least what we like to think. In reality - UWM randomly put us in the same dorm suite together and the rest is history. Super simple right? Now you know why we prefer to think it was divine intervention on the highest scale. Makes a much better story than - we can probably thank a computer for our friendship today.
That’s where it all started - on floor 11 of East Tower - our Cookie Friendship was born. Now, we fully realize that the sentence you just read probably makes no sense whatsoever. Not surprising. Everytime we call each other “Cookie” in front of people for the first time, we immediately have to explain where that came from. We’re used to it. And it’s a pretty great story to tell, so tell it often we do.
Picture it - 3:00 maybe 4:00 am, we’re supposed to be writing our papers when we’re doing anything but. Clean our rooms - Check. Purchase studying snacks - Check. Spread out papers all over the place - Check. Impromptu dance party - Check. Failed attempt to sit down and be productive - Check.
Our next procrastination activity - organize the kitchen...or so we thought. While beginning to clean our kitchen, we realized how little food we’d stored in our cabinets. Slowly turning around, our eyes locked on the kitchen table - we’d run out of snacks and clearly, papers can’t be written without proper fuel - we needed to resolve that issue before anything else. This became top priority - as it should have. We started to brainstormed solutions. We’re intelligent, independent, college students, we can come up with a solution to this pressing issue. And that solution was - Cookies. But not just any cookies, cookies made from scratch. Because cookies from a tube are cookie imposters and we stand wholeheartedly behind that. Sleep deprived, overtired, and slightly delusional, everything was funny, everything was incredible, and everything revolved around cookies. And as the sun came up, our nicknames were born - Cookies.
Almost 15 years later and here we are today. Through time and distance our friendship has stayed strong and evolved into our next journey together - this Travel & Lifestyle Blog.
We should probably say that we put a lot of thought and effort into how we wanted to share our story but it actually came together seamlessly. It was simple really - our love of travel had solidified our bond through the years. Exploring new cities, discovering unique restaurants, finding fun bars - and in some cases not so fun bars (story for another time), and touring brewers were already things we enjoyed doing - why not write about it? Living in two different states isn’t ideal for friendships but distance doesn’t need to be a hindrance. Whether we’re sitting in a hotel room drinking wine or wandering around a new city, we are just happy to do it together. So, while being exemplary employees one Tuesday morning - we texted back and forth for a solid hour and that’s how TWC (Travel with Cookies) was born. What to name our blog took 5 days to figure out but luckily we knew what road we were taking. I mean, road trips are always fun right? Even when you get lost - you seem to always find your way to your destination.
We hope you all enjoy traveling all around with us as we keep our friendship alive through adventures, incredible memories...and cookies. Creating memories together while traveling is something we will remember forever and we hope to inspire other friends to do the same.
