A girls weekend in Vegas is just what we needed!
Let us set the scene: 2020 didn’t go as planned...so we missed Leanne’s birthday trip to San Francisco because the week before we were going to leave, the world shut down! Soooo the only proper way to celebrate Leanne’s 35th birthday was a girls trip to Las Vegas! Fun fact: Leanne hasn’t been to Vegas, so Calla knew it was the best place to pick! We also were able to convince the 3rd Cookie, yes there is a 3rd Cookie (her name is Jenna and she is the most kickass Mom around) to come along with us!
Where we stayed: we picked Caesar’s Palace because it is right in the center of The Strip. This meant we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go quickly and easily. We had a double Queen room and it had a HUUUUGE bathroom with a double vanity, walk in shower and jacuzzi tub. The rooms were super spacious with an added vanity to do your makeup, a desk and corner chair. Everything was clean except our pay per item mini bar that included a drank fireball shot, open bottle of soda filled with water and a few other missing drinks! 🤣 Not anything to throw us off our game, because come on, it is Vegas. Everything else in the room was perfect!
After checking in and unpacking - yes we are people who unpack - we grabbed a drink in our lobby and headed to Guy’s Las Vegas Kitchen for a late lunch. We had to go for the TRASH CAN NACHOS! Yes, you read that correctly! Now, we need you to really pay attention to this next statement, they were seriously the best nachos we’ve ever had in our entire lives! They were so unbelievably amazing that to this day Leanne still talks about them nonstop. We’re both pretty sure we will never be able to order nachos from any other restaurant again because they will never live up to the trash can nachos. If you ever find yourself in Vegas, you need to, we can’t stress this enough, need to go and try them! You’re welcome in advance.
After inhaling our nachos, we walked through The Linx Promenade - with drinks in hand, something that Leanne still couldn’t believe we were allowed to do - where Calla found the cutest hat from Gorrin Bros - if you missed it in our stories, don’t worry, we will be posting it soon to our page - and Jenna picked up some lemon cookies from Hawaiian Cookie Company. What about Leanne you say? Well, she was on the hunt for a postcard and people watching like a pro. I mean, we were in Vegas.
For dinner Friday night we headed over to the Venetian to one of Calla’s favorite restaurants in Vegas, Yardbird! They seriously have THE BEST fried chicken ever! Outside of the delicious food, seriously so good, we had the best waiter who talked football with us, made awesome jokes, and steered us in the right direction with our orders, which we greatly appreciated. He even brought out a birthday surprise treat for Leanne after hearing us cheers to her.
After a perfect dinner, while walking back to the hotel, we took pictures with everything we came across, as one should do who is not only a blogger but just someone experiencing Vegas. Murals - check. Water Fountains - check. Group pictures - check. Half naked men & women - we skipped over them, respectfully of course, haha.
Sunday we had brunch reservations at The Henry which is located in the lobby of The Cosmopolitan. We ordered the beignets and they were served with a side of lemon curd! 😍 Sidenote: take note of those beignets because they were fantastic! For our actual meals, Calla had the short ribs eggs benedict, Leanne opted to be a basic bitch and got the traditional eggs benedict and Jenna ordered the huevos rancheros! We were so full, but so happy!
We then proceeded to do some gambling. I’m sure some of you were wondering when we’d get to that, don’t worry, it was on the list. First, we went to play roulette where Jenna ran the table, we made friends with a nice guy from Miami, the dealer, and were 2 seconds away from having an anxiety attack while watching the other man at her table lose thousands of dollars. Yep, you read that correctly. He kept placing $100 on the green spaces, and he kept losing. After constantly chain smoking, pacing, swearing, and at one point even punching a slot machine, he finally won $3,500. He freaked out, and we were all really happy for him because no one wanted him to have a heart attack, and he left the table a happy man. At that point, the dealer informed us that he bet around $5,000 so really he hadn’t won. Oh Vegas, you sneaky temptress.
Next up on the gambling adventure, slots. Where Calla got Leanne hooked on the Britney Spears slot machine. In all honesty, who can pass up hearing Britney’s songs while gambling? Were we really sure what the rules of the game were? No. Did we talk to the machine, sing loudly, and play for over an hour, yes. Could we have stayed there all day and never moved and been completely happy with our life choice - absolutely. An added bonus, for Leanne’s first time gambling in Vegas, she played with $100 and walked away with $70 - not bad!
After gambling our little hearts out, we then went over to Planet Hollywood so we could get our Garrett popcorn fix! Seriously the best popcorn that we have ever had, but you have to order the Chicago mix. We proudly walked through Vegas with our huge bag containing 3 large popcorns.
We then headed back to The Cosmopolitan for a late lunch at Holstein’s. The one place Leanne had been excited about going to for weeks! Why you ask? Well, they are known for their burgers and boozy milkshakes! Cue the best song that you can’t help but sing in your head when you hear the word milkshake. We split the cookies and cream Bam-Boozled shake! Outside of the clear photo-op - be on the lookout for this picture on the gram - it was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend! 10/10. For actual food, we weren’t super hungry so we all split the buffalo chicken dip, fried cheese curds and “philly” egg rolls. It was all very tasty, but those shakes! Omg, everyone needs a boozy shake in their life.
Next on our list, shopping part II. Leanne was on the hunt for a new purse, and since it was her birthday weekend and she hadn’t lost nearly as much money at slots as she thought she would, it was time for a “treat yo’self” moment. Kate Spade here we come! Now, this should have been an easy task, but apparently, looking for one particular shop in Vegas is a lot to ask for because we wandered around for about an hour trying to find the Kate Spade store and no one was able to help us! But don’t worry guys - the Cookies were on the case and we weren’t giving up. After what felt like an eternity, we finally found what we were looking for and boy was it worth it. Leanne found a beautiful two toned crossbody purse, Jenna purchased cute earrings for her daughter, and Calla debated over an adorable small black purse. All the while, we had lovely conversations with the store associates.
After accomplishing our mission, we headed back to the hotel to change for dinner. We had reservations across the street at The Cromwell at Giada’s. This was the restaurant we were most looking forward to. Everything on the menu sounded amazing and you seriously can’t go wrong with anything you order there. We started with the pesto arancini, ricotta crostini, meatballs and arugula salad. Calla’s favorite was the ricotta crostini, it was topped with sweet roasted tomatoes and Calabrian honey. Leanne loved the pesto arancini. Everything that was brought out was better than the previous dish. No complaints. A fantastic last restaurant to have our last dinner in Vegas.
We ended the night back at our hotel and had a martini at Vanderpump Cocktail Garden because Leanne was an avid Vanderpump Rules watcher and “needed” to go there, even just for one drink, haha. Sadly, Lisa wasn’t there but we still had a lovely time. We all ordered the Pillow Talk which is their version of a chocolate martini. It was such a fun atmosphere, it literally felt like you were sitting in an outside garden! A perfect cherry on top for a wonderful day in Vegas.
Now, you may be wondering, where all the club stories are. Well, there weren’t any. It’s not really our thing. Don’t get us wrong, we love to have fun and dance and sing to music like the rest of the world, but this trip was really just about all the Cookies finally reuniting, going on a trip together, celebrating Leanne’s birthday, shopping, drinking, gambling, and eating amazing food! We hope you enjoyed reading about our Vegas adventure!
