What isn't there to do in Nashville?! Three days just isn't enough but I have some suggestions on places you'll definitely want to go to.
What isn’t there to do in Nashville? Seriously. There’s a bit of sensory overload when it comes to Country Music’s Favorite City. Nonetheless, it’s still a fun time! Just be ready to deal with crowds of people and lots and lots of bachelorette parties, haha. Though, in my personal opinion, it’s all worth it to listen to incredible live music.
Nashville was a girls trip. Sadly, Calla was unable to attend this year but was greatly missed! There wasn’t really a set schedule for planning anything. Since there were 4 of us, there were 4 opinions to be taken inconsideration. This trip was a bit different than our Cookie trips but fun nonetheless! Definitely, one for the record books!
Since there is so much to do and see - I thought it would be best to just share with everyone my favorite places we went.
So, let’s get to the fun stuff - what we did in Nashville!!!
Bars - seems like a logical place to start! While there are TONS of bars to go to with amazing live music at each and every single one, there were three that were my favorite.
Now, I know what you’re thinking - how original on the first two. But hear me out, if you go to Nashville and don’t go to Tootsies then you wasted your money. I know that sounds harsh but seriously - it’s Tootsies! And if it matters at all - it was awesome! By far, my favorite bar. It’s multi level so you have plenty of options but overall it’s just a really fun place to go.
Protip: enter through the alley! Don’t fight the insane crowds on Broadway. We got right in, no waiting at all thanks to that little gem of advice.
Luke Bryan’s Bar was also pretty amazing. Another multi level bar, there’s plenty for you to choose from. 2 floors of live Country Music and 2 floors of “Today’s Hits”- as the kids would say...or not say...I don't know what the kids say anymore. Moving on, it has big dance floors and a rooftop bar, this is the place to be if you’d like to mix it up between Country and Pop - as we called it in my day - music.
However, if you’re looking for a bar that has more of a laid back “hipster” vibe where you can actually hear the person next to you, Vinyl Tap is the place for you! Craft beers, a vintage vibe and great people - we spent a couple hours here and I could have stayed for hours more. This is also where I discovered my new favorite beer - Local AF. If you ever have the chance to try it, I highly recommend. Outside of having a great name, it’s delicious.
Food - let’s talk places to eat! I’m going to break down this category into type of meal. I think that will help make things a little easier, but just know that everywhere we went had great food.
Breakfast: Cafe Roze
Brunch: Liberty Common
Lunch: Five Points Pizza
Dinner: O-Ku Nashville
Dessert: The Diner
In all honesty, there isn’t much I can say about these places but YUMMMMM!!! 5 stars all the way around. No complaints what-so-ever. I would though, like to give a shout out to to The Diner. What made this place so special you ask? Well, if you like milkshakes and if you like booze, then you will LOVE their boozy shakes. I loved this place so much that I even dragged everyone back there at 3am but sadly the booze shakes level of the restaurant was closed. This is a must stop! I got the funfetti kind! And I could only have one shake for the rest of my life, it would be that one! There aren’t enough exclamation marks in the world to convey how good it was! Even now as I’m typing this all I’m dying for a funfetti milkshake! #gimmegimme
Breweries - yes, they’re different than bars. Our trip consisted mostly of eating and breweries during the day, so we went to a lot of these. Personal preference on what people like the best but the two that stood out as the best for me were:
The Filling Station was my number one favorite. Picture it - wall to wall beers of all shapes, sizes, and kinds. If you love craft beer this is the place for you! They also have a wonderful little spot for you to sit and enjoy the beautiful weather or sit inside and enjoy being surrounded by beers. Oh, and they have games for you to play with your friends! We spent quite a bit of time here and it was well worth it.
Mill Creek Brewing was a two for one gem. Delicious lunch and great beers. They even had a stout rootbeer float that I, of course, had to try. The burger was amazing, the fries were perfect and the beer hit the spot. Another location we stayed longer than we intended but no one was complaining at all.
The final piece of the puzzle was nature. I’m a big nature person, I love hiking and just being outside. My only request for this trip was to do one thing outside. Just a detox nature activity. So, we decided to wander around Radnor Lake State Park. They have a lovely little trail that goes around the lake and it’s level “easy” so anyone can do it. A beautiful hike for everyone to enjoy.
Sidenote: I’m sure some of you are questioning why I didn’t talk about Broadway itself. Simple - because everyone knows about Broadway. There’s really nothing to “tell” about it. It’s the main street that has all the popular bars on it. It’s the main street that everyone goes to. It’s the main street - period. Go! See it! Enjoy it! Dance at Luke Bryan’s Bar and stay for hours at Tootsies. Just don’t go there sober because you will get a headache and not be able to hear what the person 3 inches away from you is saying. It’s a fun street - but you have been warned! Haha.
